MARCH_______________________________________________

18 – The first PEDESTRIAN SUNDAYS COMMUNITY MEETING of 2008. Tuesday March 18th, 7 to 9pm at 21 Nassau (down the ramp to the Loft’s Meeting Room.) We’ll discuss all of your exciting plans for bringing magic to the streets, as well as the possibility of expanding the road closure area.

20 – CREATIVE ACTIVISM OPENING AT TORONTO FREE GALLERY. Thursday March 20. Show runs ’til April 19th. New Toronto Free Gallery location: 1277 Bloor at Lansdowne. Gallery hours: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays noon to 4pm, and Satrudays noon to 6pm. www.torontofreegallery.com. The show includes installations from over a dozen activist groups including ours:

Part street theatre, part protest, the message from Toronto activist group Streets are for People! to take back the commons is always accompanied by laughter and play. Stumble upon many a silly object in the tree-fort headquarters of these city-planning urban pranksters. In this veritable toy-box cockpit, musical instruments and silk-screening equipment sit snugly by sledge-hammers and pylons. Here, you’ll begin to understand how Temporary Autonomous Zones can be invoked with bits of cardboard, how the psychogeography of the city streets is completely altered with a clown nose, and how ultimately, the paintbrush will save us from the tyranny of the boxes we watch, work, shop, and drive in–boxes that pollute the biosphere, alienate us and enslave our minds.

28 – CRITICAL MASS with BICYCLE BOB. Critical Mass, as always, is the last Friday of every month. Cyclists meet at 6:00 at Spadina & Bloor, taking to the streets at 6:30. Bring instruments and costumes and anything fun you can carry on your bike. This month mass will be followed by a special presentation by Bicycle Bob, the granddaddy of the bicycle movenment in Canada at the Community Bicycle Network 761 Queen Street West. Hot chocolate and cookies!
